Transition Year Programme

The Transition Year Programme aims to promote the personal, social, educational and vocational development of the students, and to prepare them for their role as autonomous, participative and responsible members of society.

The Transition Year Programme is available at present on a non-compulsory basis. This is a one-year programme, which comes immediately after completion of the Junior Cycle.

The programme includes:

  • Further study of the subjects, which students will take at Leaving Certificate level
  • Community Service
  • Computer Studies
  • Gaisce
  • Mini Company
  • Other educational opportunities including guest speakers, workshops and excursions
  • Work Shadowing

  • Develop maturity and self confidence
  • Improve self-esteem
  • Build interpersonal and team skills
  • Make informed subject choices for Leaving Certificate and Further Education
  • Expand the learning experience beyond the classroom
  • Develop entrepreneurial skills
  • Explore the world of word
  • Extend the repertoire of learning systems

Prospective students are interviewed in January of Third Year.

A fee, in addition to the standard administration expenses, is required to facilitate the wide range of activities in which students are involved during the year.
