Please note that there will be no classes held during the Easter Break (April 14th - April 25th). For classes on Mondays, there will be no class on March 17th & May 5th.

Registration closes the week prior to the commencement of classes.

A minimum number of students is required for each course to proceed.

QQI Courses

All our QQI courses are run in conjunction with The College of Progressive Education.

SNA Level 5– 12 weeks

START DATE: Tuesday 25^th February

Time: 6:45 pm – 9:15 pm

This course aims to develop the skills, knowledge & understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant and promote high quality practice among those working across the education system.

You will be required to complete 30 hours of work experience for this course, which will give you hands-on experience and enhance your overall learning experience. You will be required to secure your own work placement.

Course Fee: €350

SNA Level 6– 10 weeks

START DATE: Monday 24^th February

Time: 6:45 pm – 9:15 pm

This course aims to develop the skills, knowledge & understanding of the role of the Special Needs Assistant and promote high quality practice among those working across the education system.

On this course, you will:

• Explore strategies to assist in the provision of this education and care. The course will explore the role of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams to ensure integration, inclusion, and equal opportunities
• Develop an understanding of the importance and function of IEP’S/PPP’s and the role you play as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Critically evaluate the provision of education for those with Special Educational Needs, with reference to past and current legislation.
• You will develop the capacity to work and communicate effectively with parents, families, colleagues, and other professionals to safeguard, support and promote children’s learning, development and well-being.

You will be required to complete 30 hours of work experience for this course, which will give you hands-on experience and enhance your overall learning experience. You will be required to secure your own work placement.

Polish for Beginners – 10 weeks

Prepare for your Polish holiday with our beginner’s class. This course aims to give students a introduction to the Polish language with focus on conversation. Learn the basics with a native speaker & enjoy the learning experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

Spanish for ABSOLUTE Beginners – 10 weeks

START DATE: Wednesday 26^th February

Time: 7 pm – 8:30 pm

This course is designed for those who have never spoken Spanish before and eager to make a start!

Enjoy learning this beautiful language with a fluent speaker in a relaxed & fun atmosphere over a 10-week period.

Sport, Health & Fitness Classes

Hatha Yoga – 10 weeks

START DATE: Monday 24^th February

Time - 7pm to 8 pm

Enjoy this weekly one hour class, the practice of breath, body & mind, with our experienced instructor. In the interest of health & safety, students are required to bring their own mat.

Kundalini Yoga (mixed level) – 10 weeks

START DATE: Tuesday 25^th February

Time: 7 pm - 8:30 pm

A form of yoga that involves chanting, singing, breathing exercises, and repetitive poses, the purpose of which is to activate your Kundalini energy, or shakti. This is a spiritual energy that’s said to be located at the base of your spine. As Kundalini yoga awakens this energy, it’s supposed to enhance your awareness and help you move past your ego. Sometimes, the practice is also called “yoga of awareness.”

In the interest of health & safety, students are required to bring their own mat.

Pilates – 10 weeks

This exercise regime, typically performed on a floor mat aims to improve flexibility & stability by strengthening the muscles, especially the torso-stabilising muscles of the abdomen & lower back.

In the interest of health & safety, students are required to bring their own mat.

Men Only Pilates – 10 weeks

Our popular men only Pilates is back. Maybe now is the time to focus on your flexibility by giving those muscles some strengthening. Own mat required.

Ballroom & Latin Dance – 8 weeks

This exciting dance class run by Emma Doyle, a ballroom dancer with years of experience will give you the chance to try all those dances you see on Strictly! Learn the Waltz, Tango, Chachacha, Quickstep, Jive & Samba in this class that neither requires previous experience nor a partner! Bring yourself along & let the rhythm get you!

Salsa & Bachata – 10 weeks

Time – 8 pm to 9 pm - VETERANS

Freesalsa Ireland welcomes back all our students (old & new) to St Mary’s College, to our Rueda de Casino (Salsa Cubana) and Bachata classes for 2024 . In this class we use a combination of footwork, choreography and fun as we take you through the basics & fundamentals of both dances.

Classes with Jason will be across two levels (basics & veterans) with folks welcome to join either group depending on previous experience & ability. We look forward to seeing you soon. Ahí na ma!!

Skills & Self Development

Bridge – 10 weeks

Are you ready to try something new to stimulate your brain? Now is your chance with our new mind sport, BRIDGE!

Come join us here in St Mary’s College & learn the skills & techniques needed to enjoy this wonderful card game. This class is aimed at those who have never played bridge before or dabbled a long time ago but have forgotten it all! You won’t need a partner so why not just come along.

Creative Writing – 10 weeks

START DATE: Wednesday 26^th February

Time: 7 pm – 9 pm

This course, run by Mary Whelan, will let you use your creative imagination and express it through the form of literature.

You will develop new characters and set them wherever you want.

A short story will be developed through dialogue, plot, and description.

Mary founded Naas Creative Writing group in 2013 and is their coordinator. She helped publish the group's Anthology ‘Cuisle Chill Dara' in 2019. Her debut novel is now in the agent submission process. She has been long listed in short story and flash fiction competitions.

Drama for Beginners – 10 weeks

Have you ever wanted to perform or simply escape your everyday life by creating and becoming a character? Take a step into the fascinating world of acting, work with other students to build different characters and see where they take you in this one-of-a-kind course.

"Acting 101: The fundamentals" allows students to pick up a base knowledge of the skills you need to begin your acting journey, whether that be at a hobbyist or professional level. The course provides confidence when entering a rehearsal space for the first time that you know as much as everyone else in the room. It will also be a safe place to explore your creativity while having fun and learning the craft of acting.

Aaron Lockhart will be your guide on this journey. A current industry professional with over 16 years of experience in Shows like “Fair City”, “Red Rock” and the award-winning film “Herself”, he can confidently guide you in the right direction if you would like to pursue a future in acting as well as keeping the classes incredibly fun and engaging if you would just like to join your local theatre group.

Remember we get to play pretend in this class, always respect the craft of acting but never forget the fun of the work.

Embroidery for All – 8 weeks

Delighted to have our embroidery class back - something new to add to your repertoire?

If you've ever wanted to learn the craft that is embroidery, you can do so now by joining this 8-week course. Come & learn all about materials that can be used in embroidery & create something of your own by the end of the course.

This course will cover materials that can be used to embroider on, the types of threads needed & how to copy the image onto chosen material.

All you need is yourself, an open mind & a pair of scissors!

Trace Your Roots - Genealogy for Beginners – 8 weeks New

START DATE: Wednesday 26^th February

Who do you think you are? If you’ve ever been curious about your family origins & history, this course is for you!

Facilitated by award winning author James Durney, you can delve deep into your family history with this 8-week course.

James works in Kildare County Archives and Local Studies & has over 15 years’ experience teaching to mature students. This introductory course will show you how to trace your family history and build up your family tree. The course will look at births, deaths, marriages, census returns and many more records from Ireland and some from the UK and USA.

Own laptop/tablet required, basic computer skills essential. Spaces limited to 10.

Knitting for All – 10 weeks

START DATE: Monday 24^th February

Time: 7 pm – 9 pm

Learn to knit in a relaxed and fun environment with our new 10 week course. This class is suitable for beginners and those who are looking to improve their knitting skills. Over the 10 weeks you will learn:

• the basic stitches plain & purl
• how to cast on and off stitches
• how to read patterns
• complete a small project such as a scarf, hat, tea cosy etc.

Simply bring your ball of double knitting wool & a pair of 4mm knitting needles. Patterns will be provided as part of the course but feel free to bring your own pattern if you prefer and you will be guided through it in class!

Machine Sewing for Beginners – 10 weeks

START DATE: Wednesday 26^th February

Time: 7 pm – 9 pm

We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Magda from MeMade by Magdalena for our very first sewing course at St Mary's College! Get creative with your sewing, or just learn how to use that machine in the corner with this passionate & inspiring tutor. This course will teach you the basics of sewing by machine & no doubt you'll discover a new passion by the end of the 10 weeks. Course numbers limited to 8 to ensure tutor time for all students.

Own sewing machine will be required for this class along with some basic materials (scissors, measuring tape, pins etc.) The course fee includes some material for the first 2 classes.

Oil Painting – 10 weeks

START DATE: Wednesday 26^th February

Time: 7 pm – 9 pm

An oil painting course suitable for all, beginners, and improvers alike. The course is an enjoyable introduction to developing skills in painting with an emphasis on individual tutoring & tutor demonstrations. Tutor is an artist & an experienced facilitator. Please note that a list of materials will be emailed 2 weeks prior to the first class.

Singing for All – 6 weeks

Singing lessons for all:

Come and join the former St. Mary’s music student Louise Campbell for vocal lessons for 90 mins every Tuesday!

This is aimed for all ages and levels of singing to just have some fun singing in a group setting whilst learning some of the important techniques for both performance and singing.

We will be covering a wide range of music to aid in our learning both with and without music.

For those who wish to work on solo pieces, an opportunity will be given towards the end of each class but there is absolutely no pressure for this!

This may also be suitable for 5th and 6th year students who are singing for their music practical’s.

Louise is a 30-year-old local singer from Caragh. She comes from a family of singers, (the Campbells!), and has been singing from a very young age. She performs with her husband Kevin for events such as weddings and has started playing gigs in the local areas.

Monday Crochet with Ruth – 7 weeks

START DATE: Monday 24^th February

Time: 7 pm – 9 pm

Join Ruth Teskey for her 7-week crochet class.

Throughout the course, you will learn all the basics of crochet by completing a small project. While continuing to learn new stitches and patterns, you can choose a larger individual project to complete for the rest of the term. The class will suit total beginners as well as those who may have crocheted before but want to refresh their skills. Please bring along some DK yarn, a 4mm hook, a notebook and pen to the first class to get started.

Wednesday Crochet with Gintare – 10 weeks

Our wonderful Gintare is back with her 10-week Wednesday crochet class, where you will learn all the basics of crochet by completing a small project. NON - ADULT Education Class

At Searsol we provide high-quality touch-typing classes for children from the age 8 and upward in our Naas centre. Our tutor is highly professional and delivers the course in a positive environment.

Each student works at their own pace and learns the skill of touch typing using our own uniquely developed programme. Our typing classes suits children that have a learning difference such as Dyslexia or Dyspraxia (DCD) or struggles with handwriting that need to learn how to type for their exams. The classes are on Tuesday 4:30pm or 5:30 pm in St Mary's College Naas.
