This year, 14 sixth-year students were trained by Ms. Kathleen Elliott to become Cairdeas leaders in St. Mary’s College. The Cairdeas leaders care for and mentor second-year students. Warm relationships are very quickly established between the leaders and those in their care. Cairdeas leaders collectively plan events that involve fun and a shared sense of belonging in St. Mary’s. The leaders themselves relish the distraction that the second-years provide. As a result of the weekly lunchtime visits and occasional whole-year events, abiding memories are created. Ms. Olive Humphreys is the Cairdeas coordinator.
