Digital Leaders
The Digital Leaders are a student leadership group who promote the use of technology for learning in our school. They are all members of transition year. The Digital Leaders contribute to our school community in the following ways:
· Assisting teachers and students with issues they may be having with ICT.
· Assisting in the induction of our 1st year students in using Microsoft Office 365 for their school life.
· Assist teachers in the delivery of digital programmes or testing.
· Plan and assist in the running of Code week and Safer Internet Day.
· Run a digital club at lunchtimes once a week in different types of computer coding.
This year we have 10 transition year students who have taken on the role as student digital leaders in our school. The girls got off to a very productive start to the year helping our teacher digital leaders with the first year induction training on how to use Microsoft office and Microsoft teams.
Next on the list was code week. The girls were a great help in both the 2nd year and 4th year computer classes. In these classes for the week both year groups tried their hand at some block coding with the help of our digital leaders.
The girls have set up a computer coding club on Wednesday at lunchtime from 1.35-2pm. In this club students can learn or develop their existing coding skills using platforms such as Scratch.
On the 9th December the girls participated in a 2 hour training session delivered by Microsoft. We look forward to putting the skills from their training into action in our Safer Internet Day preparation. Keep your eyes peeled in January and February for activities and competitions organised by our digital leaders.
