St. Mary's College has a long-standing history of Basketball. At Present the school competes in the National Basketball Leagues in The Under-19, Under-16 and 1st and 2nd Year divisions. They also compete in the Midlands/Southeast region Leagues. Last May 2022 we saw both our 1st and 2nd year teams reaching the all-Ireland final and semi-finals respectively.
Teachers involved in Basketball are Ms Kealy, Ms Honan and Ms Malone. We also receive great coaching from Joe Clancy, Suzanne Whelan and Alicia Holland. Many thanks is also due to Naas Basketball Club for their many years of support.
Basketball is open to all students of all ages at any level of ability, and it is this inclusive model that has contributed to the fantastic success we have had over the years.
Basketball begins in early September for U19 and U16 and early January for 1st and 2nd year teams. We train every Tuesday after school from 4.15-5.15pm in the school Sports Hall.
