Venue: St Mary’s College
Date: 7th December
Match Reporter:Sarah Loughlin
On a cold, wet day and in bad playing conditions St Mary’s U17 soccer girls came up against Pipers Hill College. The girls started off strong with early attempts from Katie Power and Laoise Ní Bhrian , however Piper's hill stood strong, and their goalie made some excellent saves. Eppie Kehoe powers through the Pipers hill defence line and scores a terrific goal. The half time score stood at 1:0 to St Mary’s.
St Mary’s girls start the 2nd half with even more determination than the 1st and have a very promising start with lots of attacks and a great, important save from goalie Kate Walsh. Katie Power bursts through and scores our 2nd goal of the day, this really sets St Mary’s up for victory as another 2 goals scored by Eppie and Katie follow shortly after.
All throughout the match there was good displays of defensive work in particular from Neasa McPhillips and Cassie Mallon. A key performance by Grace Walsh also really sealed the win.
Overall, it was an impressive performance and the team now go through to the knockout stages!
Well done all.
