Today, St.Mary’s U16 A badminton team travelled to Balldoyle Badminton Centre to compete in the Badminton Leinster Playoffs.
St Mary’s Vs Prez Carlow
The first team Mary’s played against today was Prez Carlow. Matylda Chadwick up first and started the day off strong with a huge amount of energy, unfortunately the match was very tight, and Matylda lost the match, with the very close score of 21-20. Following Matylda was Cathy May who also put up a great fight but unfortunately lost her match as well. Next up to play was Niamh Crotty who played a fantastic game from the start and came out with a win of 21-8. Jillian Versoza was last up to play her match she played very well but unfortunately; she lost her first single match of the day as well. After both losing their single matches Cathy and Matylda came back with a bang and won their doubles match. Following the girls win Niamh and Jillien won their doubles match, securing the whole teams win against Prez Carlow.
St. Mary’s Vs Chriosti Ri
With a victory under their belts St. Mary’s entered their second match against Chriosti Ri with more confidence and came out with every player winning their doubles and singles match.
St. Mary’s Vs Mercy Kilbeggan
St. Mary’s played their last match of their pool against Mercy Kilbeggan. The whole team played their hearts out and once again won all their double and singles matches.
The girls played very well and came on top of their pool and as a result they were pushed forward to play in the Leinster Semi-Final.
The team played against St.Bernard’s in the Leinster Semi-Final. The whole team played their best and kept the pressure on St. Bernard but unfortunately St. Mary’s lost their match to St. Bernard’s.
The girls played very well today and showed a passion which was a credit to our school. The girls were also ably supported by Ms. Phelean who provided outstanding support and encouragement today.
Well done today girls you have worked hard all year and played your best today.
